Foundation SORB – Surgical Outcome Research Basel 

Aim: 

The purpose of the Foundation is to promote clinical surgical research, in particular so-called outcome research in the surgical and related subjects as well as in accompanying related sciences for the improvement and quality control of surgical treatment of patients. The aim is to ensure optimal treatment through the continuous collection and analysis of clinical and patient-related outcome data. The research activities are carried out primarily in the Canton of Basel-Stadt, but can also be extended to the whole of Switzerland or abroad. In pursuit of this purpose, the Foundation can in particular promote projects for the collection of clinical data, comparative studies, cost-benefit comparisons, the creation of databases and the development of prognostic models. The scientific discourse on treatment outcomes and training in patient-oriented outcome research shall be promoted. These projects can be inter-institutional, inter-professional and interdisciplinary.
